The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State faced a significant development on Sunday as two members from the Kwankwasiyya Movement chose to leave. Their departure occurs amidst the movement’s efforts to secure a victory for its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
The departing representatives, Aliyu Sani Madaki Gini (Kano Municipal) and Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure), were prominent allies of the former governor. As reported by DAILY POST, Madaki Gini, who serves as the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, revealed his decision to part ways with the movement during a meeting with his constituents in Kano.
“Effective immediately, I, Aliyu Sani Madaki, am stepping away from the Kwankwasiyya Movement,” he announced. “They have dismissed us as lacking support, but we are not afraid to stand independently. I want to make it known that I’m prepared to challenge anyone in the Kwankwasiyya Movement if necessary.”
He accused the movement of undermining his significance, stating, “They should acknowledge that I am ready to confront anyone within Kwankwasiyya.” He further claimed that some political elements are working to destabilize the current governor, Abba Yusuf.
“My clear message to the governor is that there are efforts underway to undermine him,” he cautioned. “I encourage him to stay strong; otherwise, he could be caught unaware by those around him. I possess knowledge of schemes against him,” he concluded.
