The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, said over 27 states have taken delivery of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
It also disclosed that it would print over 530 million ballot papers to be kept at the various offices of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) across the country.
It said the choice to store the materials in the custody of the apex bank was agreed by critical stakeholders recently.
National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, stated this while appearing on an interactive programme in Abuja.
He assured of the commission’s readiness to conduct free and fair polls. Okoye, however, warned that the general insecurity in the country and unguarded utterances by politicians posed serious threats to peaceful conduct of the 2023 polls.
