No plans to establish foreign military bases in Nigeria – FG

The Federal Government has refuted claims of plans to establish foreign military bases in Nigeria, dismissing such allegations as false. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, issued a statement urging the public to disregard the misinformation.

According to Idris, the government has not engaged in any discussions with foreign countries regarding the establishment of military bases within Nigeria. He clarified that no proposals have been received from any nation in this regard.

Idris emphasized that while Nigeria maintains foreign cooperation to address existing security challenges, there are no intentions to allow foreign military presence on its soil. He reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening partnerships to achieve the national security objectives outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
