10 Governors, 3 Ministers Get 2024 Institute’s Excellence Awards

Ten state governors and three ministers have been named recipients of the 2024 Security Excellence Awards by the Institute of Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS).

In a press release issued over the weekend in Abuja, the institute’s registrar, Dr. Sunday Idakwoji, stated that the awards celebrate significant achievements in security and strategic development throughout Nigeria.

He noted that the ISSS Security Excellence Awards, now in their sixth year, have been pivotal in providing both academic and practical education while promoting excellence in security standards, knowledge, and cooperation across Africa and globally.

“The Institute of Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS) is proud to announce the 6th Edition of Security Excellence Awards 2024, set to take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024,” Idakwoji announced.

The award for the Best Governor on Security and Humanitarian Services of the Year will be given to the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, for his exceptional leadership and innovative strategies in enhancing security and providing humanitarian aid in one of Nigeria’s most challenging regions.

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, will be honored for his commitment to maintaining peace and security and for implementing comprehensive humanitarian initiatives to support vulnerable communities.

The award for the Best Governor on Collective Security Advocate of the Year will go to Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State for his proactive stance on collective security measures and efforts to foster collaboration among various security agencies to combat crime and ensure citizen safety.

Other governors receiving prestigious awards include: Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State, BabaJide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, and Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.

Dr. Idakwoji also announced that three ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet would be honored for their exceptional performances.

The ministers include Olubumi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, for his effective management of internal security and proactive measures to ensure national safety; the FCT Minister, Nyensom Wike, for his strategic vision in developing the Federal Capital Territory and enhancing its security infrastructure; and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for his leadership in infrastructure development and contributions to national growth.

“For ten years and counting, the Institute has been at the forefront of providing robust academic and practical education, fostering excellence in security standards, knowledge, and cooperation within the African region and globally.

“Our mission is to prepare our students for the complex challenges of today’s world through meticulous training and innovative techniques, facilitating excellence in education and research, and forging lasting security partnerships across nations and cultures.

“Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, accredited by the National Board for Technical Education, and approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, the Institute is committed to providing a holistic education incorporating academic rigor and practical knowledge.

“The Security Excellence Awards aim to recognize and honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions towards building a robust security architecture and strategic development in Nigeria and beyond,” Idakwoji stated.
