Dismantle all military checkpoints in Biafra territory – BRGIE to Nigerian Govt

The Biafra Republic Government In-Exile has called on the Nigerian federal government to remove all checkpoints in the Southeast and Biafra territories.

Simon Ekpa, the Prime Minister of BRGIE, made this statement on Wednesday during a discussion on X (formerly Twitter).

Ekpa blamed the Nigerian government for the ongoing crisis in the Southeast, attributing it to the militarization of the region. He emphasized that Biafrans seek lasting peace and urged the Nigerian government to demilitarize the Southeast.

“We oppose the Nigerian state for militarizing Biafra. Those accusing us of violence should blame the Nigerian state. They introduced violence, and we are merely defending ourselves. We demand the withdrawal of the military and the removal of all checkpoints in Biafra territory,” he stated.

On May 30, Nigerian security forces launched a manhunt for unknown gunmen who killed five soldiers in Aba. In response, Abia State Governor Alex Oti offered a N25 million bounty for the capture of the killers. However, the perpetrators remain at large.
