Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, has advised the federal government to exclude entertainers, particularly crossdressers, from political matters.
He made this comment in response to the controversies surrounding Idris Okuneye, commonly known as Bobrisky, on a recent episode of the Honest Bunch Podcast.
Obi implied that Bobrisky and many of his peers turned to cross-dressing largely for economic reasons.
The former governor of Anambra argued that if the government introduced policies that benefit women, more men would likely take up cross-dressing.
“When someone mentioned Bobrisky to me, I remarked, ‘These are entertainers who should remain outside the political arena.’
“It’s about entertainment. If our government were to declare that fuel is N800 per litre for everyone but N400 for women, you’d be surprised at how many men would choose to wear women’s clothing.
“So, let’s concentrate on resolving our actual problems,” Obi concluded.
