With only 10 days remaining until the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that it has never been more prepared for an election. The commission also confirmed that, before the election begins, key stakeholders—including gubernatorial candidates, political parties, media, observers, and security forces—will have the chance to inspect sensitive election materials.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed that these materials will arrive in the state on Tuesday and emphasized that the election will proceed smoothly. During a visit to INEC’s council offices in Ondo, Yakubu highlighted that the inspection of these materials by major stakeholders will take place on Wednesday, with distribution to local government areas scheduled for Thursday.
“The level of readiness is highly commendable. It’s not often that the commission is this prepared before an election,” Yakubu remarked. “That’s why I’ve been visiting the local government areas to ensure they have everything they need. The only outstanding items are the sensitive materials, which are expected to arrive on Tuesday.”
He continued, “On Wednesday, all relevant parties—candidates, observers, security agencies, media, and INEC staff—will inspect the sensitive materials.”
