Nigerian football stars Ademola Lookman, William Troost-Ekong, Paul Onuachu, and Asisat Oshoala have been nominated for the 2024 Best FIFA Awards.
Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is a contender in the Best Attacker category. The 27-year-old, who ranked 14th in the Ballon d’Or standings, is also a leading favorite for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
William Troost-Ekong has been nominated for the Best Defender award. The center-back was recognized as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held earlier this year in Côte d’Ivoire.
Paul Onuachu is a finalist for the Puskas Award, which honors the best goal of the year. His stunning strike against Konyaspor in the 2023-24 Turkish Super Lig, scored on November 10, 2023, during his loan spell with Trabzonspor, earned him a spot on the shortlist.
Asisat Oshoala, a Super Falcons forward, has been nominated for the FIFA Marta Award, a newly introduced honor celebrating the best goal of the year.
