Okpebholo reinstates AAU staff sacked by ex-Governor Obaseki’s govt

The Edo State government has directed the immediate reinstatement of all staff of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, who were previously dismissed during the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Musa Umar Ikhilor, it was revealed that the affected staff were unlawfully terminated in March 2023 by the now-defunct Special Intervention Team (S.I.T.) under Obaseki’s administration.

Ikhilor noted that the dismissed staff, who were members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), lost their positions after advocating for the payment of their outstanding salaries and entitlements.

The SSG emphasized that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s decision to reinstate the staff reflects his commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring fair governance in the state.
