Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has announced plans to collaborate with Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom on initiatives involving research, joint funding, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The proposed partnership was discussed during a meeting between KWASU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman-Jimoh, and Dr. Festus Adedoyin, a senior lecturer from Bournemouth’s Department of Computing and Informatics.
Professor Luqman-Jimoh expressed enthusiasm about the potential collaboration, highlighting the wide range of opportunities it could bring to both institutions. He noted that KWASU is already prioritizing AI and the digital economy through the establishment of the Centre for International Education, Centre for Digital Economy, and Centre for AI.
“These initiatives reflect our university’s dedication to aligning with global advancements in technology and education,” he stated.
Dr. Adedoyin, a data analytics pathway leader at Bournemouth and an AI lecturer, shared his optimism about the partnership’s potential to produce significant benefits. He emphasized prospects such as joint research projects, shared funding efforts, and broader academic collaboration.
Dr. Adedoyin arrived in Nigeria on Monday, April 7, 2025, to deliver a lecture at KWASU’s first Postgraduate Colloquium on Artificial Intelligence, organized by the Department of Economics and Development Studies.
