2027: Cross River APC Endorses Tinubu, Otu, Tasks FG On Dredging Of Calabar Port

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially thrown its support behind President Bola Tinubu and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu for a second term in office come 2027. This endorsement was part of a resolution reached on Wednesday during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at Hogus Hotel in Calabar, chaired by the State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey.

During the meeting, the caucus unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu, Governor Otu, and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, citing their impressive performances at both the national and state levels.

The APC urged President Tinubu to revisit key infrastructural projects beneficial to Cross River State, such as the dredging of the Calabar Port and support for the Bakassi Deep Seaport and ongoing rail projects championed by Governor Otu. The party emphasized that such developments would stimulate the state’s economy and reduce overreliance on federal allocations.

Expressing concern over the perceived marginalisation of Cross River indigenes at the federal level, the party announced plans to send a high-powered delegation—led by Governor Otu—to Abuja to engage the President on the matter.

The resolution also commended the President for initiating the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway project, describing it as a testament to the Renewed Hope Agenda. Additionally, the governor’s proactive approach to tackling security issues in the state was praised, with a call for him to continue strengthening the state’s security framework.

The meeting concluded with a call for continued dialogue among stakeholders to address governance challenges and reaffirmed that party unity remains essential for future progress.
