Insurgency: Support Troops To Defeat Banditry – COAS Begs Kebbi Monarchs

Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, has urged traditional rulers in the Zuru kingdom to work with both the Nigerian Army and other intelligence communities to combat banditry in the area.

When the Army Chief paid a goodwill visit to Zuru Emir, His Royal Highness, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami, he made the call via Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations (rtd).

Nwachukwu also praised the Royal father for his military support.

In his answer, Sami told the Army chief that he would continue to help him in his efforts to restore normalcy to his realm.

Nwachukwu, who represented the Army Chief at 223 Battalion, Dakkarawa Barracks, Zuru in Kebbi State, commissioned 12 blocks of self-contained accommodation for servicemen and their families. While on an operational visit of the 8 Division Area of Responsibility in the North West, he commissioned the project.

He vowed to provide the necessary infrastructure to improve the wellbeing of servicemen and their families at the barracks.

Nwachukwu said he came to review the present security situation and military preparedness, as well as get firsthand information on the status of the barracks’ infrastructure.
