Why more men die during marathon sex – Experts

Earlier this month, the Kwara State Police Command apprehended a middle-aged man who runs a barbing salon in Ilorin, the state capital. He was taken into custody in connection with the death of a young woman, who allegedly passed away during a sexual encounter with him.

The incident reportedly occurred at a guest house in the Temidire community, Offa Garage area of the metropolis, where the man and his girlfriend were relaxing. According to unverified reports from the community, the man may have been under the influence of drugs in an attempt to impress his girlfriend, leading to a tragic outcome.

During the sexual encounter, the young woman became fatigued and fell into an unconscious state. Despite efforts to seek help, she eventually succumbed. The man raised an alarm, attracting the attention of guest house staff who rushed the lady to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the incident and stated that a comprehensive investigation was underway.

In a similar incident, a married mother of five and evangelist died during a sexual encounter with a bishop and General Overseer of a church in Abia State. The woman had checked into a guest house with the bishop, who later left to buy food, only for her lifeless body to be discovered the next morning.

These cases add to a concerning trend of deaths during sexual activities. Various opinions exist regarding the potential causes of such fatalities. Some attribute them to supernatural factors, while others point to the use of sex-enhancing drugs. Medical experts emphasize the importance of regular health check-ups, noting that underlying health conditions, especially related to the heart, can increase the risk of sudden death during intense physical activities like sex.

The prevalence of such incidents has raised public concern about the intersection of pleasure and peril, prompting a call for increased health awareness and proactive medical examinations to prevent future tragedies.
