President Bola Tinubu convened a private meeting with a delegation from Kano State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday. The delegation, led by APC national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, gathered at the Presidential Villa for the discussion. Also present at the meeting was Nasiru Gawuna, the party’s candidate for the 2023 governorship election in Kano State.
This meeting comes just a week after the Supreme Court affirmed Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) as the governor of Kano State. In the electoral contest held in March, power shifted from the APC when Gawuna secured 890,705 votes, trailing behind Yusuf, who was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission with 1,019,602 votes. Gawuna contested the results in court, leading to the Appeal Court declaring him the governor. However, on January 12, the Supreme Court reinstated Yusuf as the governor.
