Abia govt agency seals PDP secretariat

The Abia State PDP Secretariat located at 45 Finbers Road, Umuahia, was closed off by individuals believed to be UCDA officials. The closure took place on Wednesday without any explanation provided. A notice posted on the building directed occupants to visit the UCDA’s office at 51 Ogurube layout, Umuahia, for further information.

Meanwhile, the Abia State PDP chapter has demanded the swearing-in of Aaron Uzodike, a PDP member, as the representative for Aba North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly. In a statement signed by Abraham Amah, the party’s Vice Chairman/Acting Publicity Secretary, concerns were raised about the absence of a lawmaker representing Aba North constituency despite the Appeal Court’s decision declaring Aaron Uzodike as the winner of the March 18 election, thereby removing Destiny Nwagwu of the LP.

Amah criticized this situation as an act of impunity. He highlighted that the only document needed by the Speaker to swear in a member into the House of Assembly is the Certificate of Return, which was issued to Hon. Aaron Uzodike by INEC shortly after the court judgment, affirming him as the duly elected representative of Aba North in the Abia State House of Assembly. Amah questioned why the Speaker has refused to administer the oath of office to Uzodike.
