The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, instructed illegal occupants at the proposed Abuja Technology Village site along Airport Road to vacate the premises during his visit to the area in Abuja on Monday. Accompanied by the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Mr. Uche Nnaji, the former Rivers State governor expressed dissatisfaction with the situation and pledged to take action.
Wike stated that he would direct the Department of Development Control to issue an ultimatum to the illegal occupants to vacate the premises. He emphasized that the indigenous community in the area had already been compensated since 2015.
Expressing determination to enforce compliance, Wike stressed the importance of decisive action, emphasizing that lack of action would undermine credibility. He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law and urged those unlawfully settled in the area to vacate voluntarily.
Furthermore, Wike advised the management of the Abuja Technology Village to take possession of the land, secure the area with fencing, and demonstrate a visible presence. He emphasized the need to attract investors to the site and requested an estimate from the management regarding the cost of constructing suitable office facilities.
