Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen expressed his desire to leave a lasting memory for Nigeria in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. Osimhen has been a standout performer in the tournament, contributing to Jose Peseiro’s team reaching the quarter-finals.
During the last-16 encounter against Cameroon, the Napoli attacker posed a threat to the Cameroonian defense and played a role in setting up Ademola Lookman for Nigeria’s first goal. Despite scoring only one goal so far in the AFCON, against Equatorial Guinea, Osimhen is determined to make a significant impact.
In his words, as quoted by The Guardian UK reporter Osasu Obayiuwana, Osimhen stated, “I want to win something with this great squad. I want to give Nigeria something that they will remember. I’m giving everything to come home with the [AFCON] trophy.”
Osimhen aims to lead Nigeria to victory in the quarter-finals against Angola.
