There are reports that the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, may have joined his ancestors.
A formal confirmation by the Oyo Mesi and the Oyo State government has, however, not been made.
The foremost Yoruba traditional ruler was one of the longest-reigning Alaafin of Oyo. He became Aláàfin in 1970. He was aged 83.
