Alleged $5m bribe: Gov Mutfwang distances self from report questioning justices’ integrity

On Friday, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State refuted recent allegations circulating that judges had accepted a $5 million bribe to invalidate his election victory, dismissing them as “unfounded and defamatory.” In an official statement released in Jos, the State capital, by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor condemned the publication.

Governor Mutfwang attributed the allegations to the deliberate efforts of his detractors, aimed at creating discord between him and the esteemed judges and other constituted authorities. Expressing deep concern over the matter, he called for thorough investigations by security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the libelous publication, emphasizing the need for these individuals to face the full consequences of the law, setting a precedent that discourages similar misconduct.

Mutfwang dismissed the report as mere fabrications orchestrated by individuals manipulated as pawns by the opposition party in Plateau State. He characterized this latest move as an attempt to tarnish the image of the PDP government in the state and affirmed that such malicious actions would not deter his commitment and confidence in the Judiciary.

Reiterating his unwavering support for the judiciary, Governor Mutfwang cautioned those disparaging the justices and respected leaders to cease their destructive activities immediately or face the severe consequences of their actions.
