Anthony Joshua to face winner of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk

Mauricio Sulaiman, the President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), has stated that the organization is willing to endorse Anthony Joshua’s potential matchup against the winner of the Tyson Fury versus Oleksandr Usyk fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Fury and Usyk are set to face off on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, contesting for all the heavyweight belts. It’s anticipated that these two boxers will have a rematch later in the year.

Joshua, coming off a spectacular second-round knockout victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou last weekend, is poised to face the winner of this bout.

Sulaiman confirmed to Sky Sports that the WBC had received a sanction request for the undisputed title fight, which they accepted. He also stated that if there are no contractual or promotional constraints, the WBC would indeed endorse a match between the winner of Fury versus Usyk and Joshua.

He emphasized that the WBC is currently supportive of the undisputed champion engaging in fights that resonate with the fans.
