The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) secured all 17 local government chairmanship positions in the recently concluded local government council elections in the state. The APC also claimed victory in all 178 councillorship positions.
Dr. Mamman Muhammad, Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC), announced these results at the commission’s headquarters in Damaturu on Sunday.
“APC has won all the 17 chairmanships and 178 councillorships in the local government elections,” he declared.
He further mentioned that the commission had reviewed, validated, and approved the results for each of the 178 ward councillors.
Dr. Muhammad praised the electorate for ensuring that the elections were conducted in a free and peaceful manner.
The elections took place without the participation of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which had previously expressed concerns through its Organizing Secretary, Mohammed Sulayman, about the elections’ potential lack of fairness, freedom, and credibility.
