Appeal Court affirms Sanwo-Olu’s election as Lagos governor

On Wednesday, the Lagos Appeal Court upheld the tribunal’s decision that affirmed the election victory of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat as Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos State, respectively.

The court dismissed the legal challenge brought by Olajide Adediran, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), against the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The unanimous decision was delivered by a three-member panel led by Yargata Nimpa, which also included Justice Samuel Bola and Justice Paul Bassey.

This judgment follows the earlier ruling by the tribunal that validated Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 11 election. The justices stated that the appellants, PDP and Adeniran, failed to substantiate their pre-election claims, and as a result, their petition was dismissed.
