Troops have detained a suspected kidnapper in Iguomor, a locality situated in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, and recovered vehicles and other items during the operation.
The mission was conducted jointly by troops from the 4 Brigade and personnel of Operation Wabaizigan, resulting in the apprehension of Ekenaye Festus, who is suspected of being involved in kidnapping and gun running, along with four accomplices.
This information was disclosed by the Nigerian Army in a statement released by the spokesperson of the 4 Brigade, Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, via its official communication channel on Monday.
The statement highlights, “Thanks to the ongoing support from the people of Edo State, who have consistently provided timely and actionable intelligence to the Nigerian Army, troops from Headquarters 4 Brigade, supported by Operation Wabaizigan, acting on credible intelligence, successfully nabbed a suspected kidnapper and gun runner, Ekenaye Festus, along with four collaborators in the vicinity of Agbor Road, within the Iguomor community, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.”
“The individuals apprehended on February 25, 2024, in the early hours, have been causing distress in the Obagie community and were suspected of engaging in kidnappings and other criminal activities in the state. Those arrested alongside Ekenaye Festus are Isaac Oghosa, Ameh Innocent, Odion Okpako, and Ajayi Ayoola.”
