Arraignment of minors shameful for democracy – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former senator for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has condemned the prosecution of minors involved in the recent Endbadgovernance protests across Nigeria.

According to DAILY POST, these minors were brought to court on Friday, where two of them fainted during the proceedings.

The actions of the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have drawn criticism from Nigerians and several legal professionals.

On his X account, Senator Sani labeled the prosecution of minors as deeply troubling and an embarrassment to the country’s democratic values.

He called on the federal government to dismiss the charges against these young individuals and return them to their respective states.

“The prosecution of these minors for their participation in protests is very unfortunate and a shameful reflection on our democracy. The FG should retract the charges and send them back home,” he wrote.
