Bandits raided the Dan-Honu II community in New Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting eight individuals. Among those taken were a recently married couple, the Imam of the community mosque, his wife, and three children, including a 10-month-old baby. The attackers, approximately 10 in number, arrived around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, wielding AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, dressed in black, with one of them wearing a mask.
According to a source, Alhaji Mohammed narrowly escaped abduction, as the bandits initially targeted the Imam and his family outside the community mosque during evening prayers. Subsequently, they proceeded to a four-flat compound where they abducted the newlywed couple. Alhaji Mohammed’s residence was forcibly entered, with the bandits breaking the door and window to seize the couple.
Notably, the Imam, Malam Suleiman, and his neighbor, Malam Musa, managed to escape while being led out of the community into the bush. Additionally, the new wife, who had recently undergone surgery, was abandoned in the bush when she struggled to keep pace with the kidnappers. The Imam’s wife was released when her baby’s cries risked exposing the bandits to vigilant locals near Kakura.
Unfortunately, the bandits successfully abducted the new husband, identified as Ibrahim, and two of the Imam’s children (15-year-old Abba and his younger brother). As of the latest update, there had been no contact established with the victims’ families.
Imam Suleiman recounted the harrowing experience, noting that two of the seven bandits were armed with AK-47 rifles, while others carried axes, machetes, and sticks. The Kaduna State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansur Hassan, stated that the police are still working to verify the accurate details of the incident.
