Bandits Kill 5, Release 51 After Ransom Payment In Kaduna

Bandits who seized 61 villagers from Budah Hausa village in the Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State three weeks ago have fatally shot five of the captives. Reports indicate that the remaining 51 individuals were released on Tuesday following the payment of ransom, along with the surrender of drugs and motorcycles to the attackers.

It was also noted that the bandits did not release five of the victims, demanding additional ransom before considering their release. A local vigilante, speaking anonymously, confirmed the release of the captives to journalists, mentioning that all five of those killed were men. He described the harrowing conditions the released victims endured, including being chained for weeks, which left them barely able to walk upon their return.

The vigilante further revealed that two of the released individuals sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during captivity, and those whose conditions worsened were promptly taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

A resident named Maigari Ben, who holds a leadership position among the youth in the area, corroborated the information regarding the release of the victims and the tragic deaths of the five individuals while in captivity.
