Bandits kill Kwara monarch, abduct wife, two others

On Thursday night, unidentified gunmen attacked Koro community in Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area, resulting in the death of the community’s monarch, retired General Segun Aremu, also known as the Olukoro of Koro. Additionally, the assailants abducted the monarch’s wife and two others. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the incident, describing it as reckless, shocking, and abominable.

He urged security agencies to spare no resources in tracking down the perpetrators, rescuing the abducted individuals, and bringing the culprits to justice. The governor expressed heartfelt condolences to the people of Koro and assured them that the perpetrators would be apprehended. The state police command in Ilorin confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway, and a search and rescue operation has been initiated for the abducted victims. The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area has been deployed to the late monarch’s palace. Koro community in Kwara State is adjacent to Irele/Oke, Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun, and Ikole of Ekiti State, where three monarchs were recently attacked, resulting in the death of two and the escape of one.
