Bandits storm FCT, abduct 23 residents

On Thursday, it was reported that 23 individuals from Kawu community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, were allegedly kidnapped by bandits. Abdulmumini Zakari, the Councilor representing the area, affirmed the abduction, stating that the assailants entered the community from Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State, dividing themselves into different groups.

He mentioned that some of them targeted the palace of the district head, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali, abducting his recently married son, Lukman, and his wife. Additionally, others assaulted the residence of Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward. In this instance, the bandits took the former PDP chairman and his four children. Subsequently, they proceeded to the compound of Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, where they abducted him along with his two wives and children.

The FCT Police Command spokeswoman, SP Josephine Adeh, verified the incident. Over the past few weeks, there has been an increase in the abduction of FCT residents by bandits, with those in satellite towns being particularly affected by these criminal activities.
