The National Assembly (NASS) is contemplating the establishment of Forward Military Bases (FMB) in the Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency in response to persistent security challenges in the region. This proposal was presented in a motion during the House of Representatives’ plenary by Hon Solomon Wombo, a member of the Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency.
Hon Wombo emphasized the importance of creating these forward military bases in the volatile area to ensure the security and peace of the residents of the federal constituency. He commended the National Assembly for addressing the ongoing security situation, recognizing that peace, security, and the well-being of Nigerians are rights protected by the country’s constitution. He stressed the need for relevant security agencies to take decisive action, expressing his commitment to supporting measures aimed at securing and improving the quality of life within the federal constituency.

He sought cooperation from the Chief of Defence Staff to establish a “Forward Operation Base,” intending to intensify efforts in eliminating criminal elements within the constituency. Additionally, Hon Wombo disclosed plans to revive and complete the construction of the abandoned mobile police barracks in the Mbazar community, Tombo Council Ward, Logo LGA of the state.
The federal legislator emphasized the prioritization of collaboration between the Inspector General of Police (IGP), community leaders, and the operational unit to address the prevalent security breaches in the area. Hon Wombo also called on the Ministry for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation to extend the provision of relief materials to residents in the Internally Displaced Camps (IDPs) across the constituency, aiming to alleviate their suffering.
