The Osun State Chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has initiated an indefinite industrial action with immediate effect. The announcement of the strike was made on Wednesday by the state’s JUSUN chairman, Oluwagbenga Olakunle Eludire.
This strike follows protests on Monday and Tuesday by Osun JUSUN, prompted by allegations of maladministration against the embattled Osun Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo. JUSUN members accused Justice Ojo of unfairly persecuting certain staff members and withholding their entitlements, including the reinstatement of suspended judiciary staff, restoration of training exercises, arrears of wardrobe allowances from 2021 to 2023, and the prompt implementation of regularization and promotion exercises.
In response to these grievances, Eludire has instructed all judiciary workers in the state to refrain from attending courts and offices and to withdraw their services.
