Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has submitted the 2024 Appropriation Bill to the Osun State House of Assembly, with a total budget of N273,908,997,410. This budget was presented under the theme “Budget of Reconstruction and Recovery” during a plenary session.
Governor Adeleke outlined that the budget is allocated into two main categories: N165,654,976,700 for recurrent expenditure and N108,254,020,710 for capital expenditure.
In his statement, Adeleke emphasized that the objective of this budget is to revitalize the state’s economy, aiming to rebuild what has been damaged.
He acknowledged that presenting the budget aligns with the state’s legal requirements, which mandate that the budget is presented to the House before the year’s end. The Governor expressed his gratitude to the House of Assembly for their cooperation and promised that the state would achieve greater progress. He also sought the Assembly’s support in the years ahead.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, affirmed the House’s readiness to collaborate with the Executive branch to ensure the successful implementation of the budget. He assured that the Assembly would review the budget with a strong sense of responsibility and work to address the state’s challenges.
