Human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ekiti State.
Farotimi, who was apprehended in Lagos on Tuesday by operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command, arrived at the court around 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the activist is facing a 16-count charge of defamation of character against Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, a renowned legal icon and founder of Afe Babalola University.
The charges stem from allegations that Farotimi defamed Afe Babalola in his recently published book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
Further details on the case are expected soon.
