Tension has gripped Kano State over the alleged forceful reinstatement of deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has ordered his immediate arrest.
Agenda Newspapper reports that the governor, his Deputy Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, and other top officials have taken control of the Emir’s Palace to prevent the deposed Emir’s return.
Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, stated that the governor, in his role as the State Chief Security Officer, has ordered the arrest of the deposed Emir for violating the law and the governor’s directives.
The deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero is said to be in Kano, at the Nasarawa Emir Rest House near the Ministry of Works, while Governor Abba and his Deputy remain at the Emir’s Palace after reinstalling Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
A video circulating on social media shows State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam expressing anger, stating, “We are ready for them if they want to bring chaos to Kano by their illegal actions of returning the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero.”
“We are here and not going anywhere because we understand that the NSA, under Ganduje’s orders, has brought back the deposed Emir with heavy security to bring him into the palace; we will not allow that,” he alleged.
“The State Assembly deliberated for three days on the Emirate Council Law and repealed it, with all 40 members present, so I don’t understand what the NSA and Ganduje want,” he further alleged.
Reports indicate that two private jets were used to bring back the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero to Kano in an attempt to reinstall him, while the governor and his cabinet members have taken over the Emir’s Palace in anticipation of any unforeseen circumstances.
