BREAKING: Tinubu re-elected ECOWAS Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

His re-election took place at the 65th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.

During his speech at the event, Tinubu emphasized the importance of addressing insecurity and stabilizing the region by implementing the recommendations made by the ministers of defence.

“As we move to operationalise the ECOWAS Standby Force (ESF) to combat terrorism, it is crucial to understand that the success of this plan hinges on both strong political will and substantial financial resources,” he stated.

“We must ensure that we meet the expectations and recommendations of our ministers of defence and finance to counter insecurity and stabilize our region.

“Member states must make additional commitments to providing the necessary resources for regional stabilization,” he added.
