Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has declared his interest to run for the office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 general election.
There had been heavy speculations linking to his intention to run for the highest office in the country before now, but his declaration on Monday finally puts the speculations to rest.
The declaration was made via his twitter account where he wrote, “I am today, with utmost humility formally declaring my intention to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of APC.”
Political analysts have observed that his declaration will jeopardize the chances of the South-West producing a president, as his political father Tinubu has also declared to run for same position.
However, leader of Afenifere Pa Ayo Adebanjo reiterated his support for a candidate from the South-East.
Adebanjo was quoted in an interview with Vanguard source, to have said, “All those who say the South-East cannot be President, ask them” what has the South-East done? Are they not part of Nigeria? Is the South-East not part of Southern Nigeria?”
