Communal Crisis: Gov Adeleke relaxes 24 hours curfew in Ifon, Ilobu, Erin-Osun

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered an immediate relaxation of the 24-hour curfew imposed on Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun.

In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor also announced a reduction of the curfew to 17 hours daily.

According to the statement, the new restriction will now be in effect from 2 pm to 7 am each day, beginning Friday, March 28, 2025.

The decision was made to alleviate the difficulties faced by residents while ensuring continued security in the affected communities.

Governor Adeleke acknowledged a decline in hostilities but expressed concern over reports of another fatal incident in the area.

“The governor has directed the relaxation of the curfew to allow residents to attend to urgent needs while security operations continue to prevent further violence,” the statement read.

He also emphasized that any further violence would not be tolerated, warning that anyone inciting unrest would face legal consequences.

Governor Adeleke confirmed that the police had arrested a suspect linked to the latest violence and urged security agencies to remain vigilant in maintaining law and order.

Additionally, he instructed the state emergency response agency to intensify relief efforts for displaced residents, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to their welfare.

“Security operatives, including the police and military, have been directed to sustain 24-hour surveillance to prevent any resurgence of violence,” the statement added.

Residents of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun were urged to comply with the adjusted curfew and cooperate with security personnel to maintain peace.
