As voters prepare to head to the polls in just a few hours to elect a new governor to succeed Godwin Obaseki, security measures have been significantly increased in the state.
According to DAILY POST, voters are already arriving at their polling stations.
Security forces, primarily from the Nigerian Army and police, have set up blockades on several major streets and roads.
At Agho and Joromi junctions on Ekenwa Road in Benin City, military personnel have restricted access, making it difficult for motorists to pass.
Similar roadblocks can be found at Oba Market Road, as well as at the Ebiwe, Forestry, and Mission road junctions, enforced by both the Army and police.
In addition, at Sonkpoba junction, Sapele, and Airport roads, the Army has also established blockades. Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) have been positioned on Akakpava Road near the Central Bank of Nigeria.
