Edo guber election petition: Tribunal set to hold inaugural sitting, pre-hearing session

The Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to hold its first session and pre-hearing proceedings to address multiple petitions contesting the declaration of Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate, as the winner of the September 21, 2024, governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As of Monday, seven petitions have been filed with the tribunal, including one submitted by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

DAILY POST reports that INEC’s announced results placed the PDP candidate second, while Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata finished third. The election results were declared on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
