Agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided the Lagos Head Office of the Dangote Group on Thursday. As reported by TheCable, the anti-corruption agency was conducting an investigation into the foreign exchange (forex) allocations to the company during the period when Godwin Emefiele served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, chose not to provide any comments on the matter.
Nevertheless, a Dangote employee verified that EFCC operatives were present at the company’s head office. The employee stated, “They requested documentation related to forex transactions with the CBN.”
