The Enugu chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has removed Ajodo Christopher Sunday, the chairman of the party in Uzo-Uwani local government area of the state.
Briefing newsmen during the party’s local government meeting held on Saturday, 13th August, the local government secretary of the party, Barr John C Diara said the removal of their chairman was sequel to “allegations of embezzlement of party funds, diversion of items meant for the party executives and members as well as exclusion and barring of major stakeholders from party meetings and programmes.”
“The petition against Mr. Ajodo also included physically assaulting party members during meetings and this could be classified as thuggery.”
Barr. Diara further stated that an investigation committee was set up to review these allegations and he was found guilty.
“These acts were confirmed to be true and in fragrant breach of article 21 of the party’s constitution and capable of bringing the party to ridicule and disrepute.
“He was found guilty by a panel of investigation and disciplinary Committee set up by the local government party executives to investigate the petition against him.
“The panel after their investigation, recommended that Mr. Christopher Ajodo be removed immediately as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Uzo-Uwani chapter, in the interest of the party; that he can remain in the party as member and nothing more.
“The committee also recommended that the Vice chairman, Pastor Raphael Nwokolo should take over immediately in acting capacity, pending the election or appointment of a substantive chairman.”
They further directed the removed Chairman to handover the properties of the APC in his possession with immediate effect.
