Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State is awaiting the verdict on the allegations of certificate forgery made against him by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The judgment will be delivered today at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he challenged the accusations.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, presiding over the Federal High Court, will provide a ruling in a case initiated by the governor to contest the allegations brought by the NYSC. A notice confirming the judgment delivery, for the suit identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/1611/2023, was observed by a correspondent from DAILY POST, and the judgment will be announced shortly.
As of the time of this report, the courtroom is filled with well-wishers, political supporters, and friends of the governor who are present to witness the proceedings.
Governor Mbah had taken legal action against the NYSC and its Director, Corps Certification, Ibrahim Muhammad, prior to his inauguration on May 29. He sued them for releasing a disclaimer that contradicted the issuance of a discharge certificate to him on January 6, 2003. On May 15, Justice Ekwo had issued an order preventing the NYSC, Muhammad, and any of their representatives from making such statements until the substantive matter was heard and determined.
