Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has told Chelsea’s Kai Havertz that he doesn’t need to play for the club again.
Ferdinand believes Havertz has repaid Chelsea the money they spent in signing him from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020.
The former England international said this while hailing Havertz for leading Chelsea to defeat Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup final last weekend.
Recall that Havertz scored the winning goal to ensure Chelsea defeated Palmeiras 2-1 at Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium to win their first Club World Cup.
The German had led Chelsea to win the Champion League last year after scoring the only goal of the match against Manchester City in the final at the Estadio do Dragao.
“He [Kai Havertz] doesn’t have to kick a ball ever again in a Chelsea shirt, he’s repaid the £70m price tag now,” Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube channel.
“He’s scored two of the biggest goals in the history of the club.
“Don’t have to do no more! Shut down, undo your boots, take ’em off, chill!
“It’s not gonna happen but listen, if he doesn’t play another game for Chelsea, he goes down in folklore.”
