Ex-Abia Gov, Ikpeazu saddened by killing of military personnel in Aba

Former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed profound sorrow over the killing of soldiers at Obikabia Junction by unidentified individuals, condemning the act as heinous and intolerable.

In a statement on Saturday, Ikpeazu remarked that the murder of the soldiers does not reflect our values as a community, emphasizing that such brutality against soldiers who were lawfully deployed to protect us is incomprehensible.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Chief of Army Staff and the leadership of the Nigerian Army regarding the tragic event. Additionally, he offered his sympathies to the families of the fallen soldiers.

The former Governor urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and to bring the culprits to justice.

He also called on military authorities to show restraint and professionalism during the investigation to ensure that innocent citizens do not suffer as a result of the incident.

Ikpeazu prayed to Almighty God for the restoration of peace in the region and the protection of our people.

On Thursday, IPOB had called for a sit-at-home in memory of those killed during the Biafra civil war. During the sit-at-home, some unidentified gunmen killed five soldiers in Aba, Abia State. The incident occurred at the Obikabia Junction checkpoint in the Obingwa Local Government Area.
