Corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians have been urged to assist the government at all levels in improving the nation’s healthcare sector for the betterment of the society.
Retired Air Vice Marshall Alkali Mohammed Mamu made the appeal at the launching and book presentation of Lami Fatima Cervical Cancer Foundation in Abuja.
The Baraden (Generalissimo) Fika, who represented the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Mohammed Abali Ibn Idrissa, at the event said, “I am calling on corporate Nigeria and wealthy individuals to assist the three tiers of government in developing the public health sector for the less privileged to benefit from better and modern healthcare sector.”
According to him, the public sector is in need of support from well-meaning individuals and organisations for the populace to enjoy healthy lifestyle.
Mamu however charged Nigerians to always visit primary healthcare centres spread across the country for medical examination as well as to get experts’ drug prescriptions for their illnesses.
He also called on the public to ensure that they maintain a cleaner environment to avoid contracting diseases. Mamu urged stakeholders in the health sector to be proactive in delivering good services to their patients, saying building more modern cancer centres will help alleviate the difficulties cancer patients faced in the country.
