FCT: Wike announces new fee for C-of-Os

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revised the fee for obtaining Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-Os) for land plots in Abuja. The new fee for C-of-O issuance is now set at N3.5 million, a reduction from the initially proposed N5 million. The initial announcement of the N5 million fee faced opposition from stakeholders and key players in the real estate sector.

This decision was communicated by Wike during his second monthly ministerial press briefing on Friday, as stated in a release signed by Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press for the Office of the FCT Minister. Wike had previously hinted at a forthcoming reduction in the C-of-O fee. The revised pricing is now a flat rate applicable to all land sizes, irrespective of the location within the Federal Capital Territory.
