Yobe’ State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, has disclosed that over 5,000 households across 208 communities in 16 local government areas of the state have so far been affected by either flood or windstorm.
The agency posted the frightening figures on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, noting that the figures are from April 2024 to date.
Following the flood disaster that hit Karasuwa, Yusufari, Machina and Nguru local government areas, SEMA said it has also conducted a rapid needs assessment on victims in line with emergency best practices.
The agency further reaffirmed its readiness to close the gaps and ensure victims are protected and supported within the available resources.
“Already validation is ongoing and immediate needs and support in line with available resources will be delivered as directed by His Excellency [Gov Mai Mala Buni],” it posted.
