Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, the First Lady of Ebonyi, has pledged N2 million to aid the ten individuals injured in the gas explosion at Good Shepherd Catering School in Oruokeonuoha, Ebonyi LGA.
The donation was made through her foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO), during a sympathy visit to the victims at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki.
While visiting, Mrs. Nwifuru stated that the funds are intended to support the victims’ hospital treatment and promised to cover the surgery for Miss Anita Ahamefula, who is in need but unable to afford it.
She expressed her heartfelt sympathy for the victims and prayed for their quick recovery, wishing strength for the young girls who are suffering from serious burns and are in a critical state. The victims, all teenagers aged 13 to 19, were admitted for intensive care after the explosion on Thursday.
