The Yobe State government has confirmed the data of 20,763 out of the 30,862 civil servants in the state.
Hamidu M. Alhaji, the State Head of Service, made this announcement to reporters while overseeing the ongoing data verification in Damaturu.
He explained that the verification of 10,099 workers has not been completed due to the failure of several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to submit their employee records.
Alhaji reiterated the government’s dedication to maintaining a precise personnel database, stressing the importance of removing ghost workers from the state’s payroll. While he expressed concern over the MDAs’ failure to submit the required files, he assured that the results of the verification would guide further actions by the state.
The State’s Finance Commissioner, Muhammad Abatcha Geidam, warned that salaries for unverified civil servants would be withheld from now on.
