Group launches advocacy campaign to fix electoral system

A group, Mandate4, has launched FixINEC, a 30-day advocacy campaign aimed at mobilising five million citizen polling unit agents and securing five million signatures in support of proposed amendments to Nigeria’s Constitution and Electoral Act.

The initiative is an extension of Mandate4’s Fix Nigeria project, a movement dedicated to reforming the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and driving democratic accountability.

The campaign seeks to galvanize Nigerians to actively shape the country’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja, the Founder, Century Favour, stated that Nigeria’s democracy is at the cross road, explaining that if we do not take decisive action now, we will continue to suffer the consequences of electoral malpractice and governance failures.

Favour added that through the 30-day FixINEC campaign, they will call on Nigerians to become a citizen vote protection volunteer and lend their voice to constitutional and electoral reforms to strengthen the country’s democracy.

According to him, they are working to recruit five million volunteers to oversee election processes to prevent any manipulation and secure the same number of signatures for the proposed amendment of Electoral Act and constitution.

Favour further explained that they have created public awareness on key areas of reforms to fix country’s voting system and enhance democratic participation.

He called on activists, youth, women, students, civil societies and technocrats to join them on social media.

“It is no longer enough for citizens to merely come out and vote. Nigerians must take a more crucial role in ensuring that our democratic institutions like INEC that regulate elections is free, fair and credible,” he remarked.
