Three persons have been killed and two others kidnapped at two different locations in Anambra State by gunmen.

Two of those killed were said to be military men who were killed in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.

They were allegedly killed by people suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network ESN of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The other incident where two persons were kidnapped and one killed, took place at Oko community in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state Thursday night (10pm)

According to eyewitnesses, it was said that the hoodlums shot non-stop at Oko without any form of challenge for over 30 minutes

The shooting, The Nation learnt, scared the residents including students of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, who scampered for safety, while most of them ran into nearby bushes.

It was equally gathered that the two kidnapped persons failed to answer questions relating to the struggle for independence by members of the group.

An eyewitness, (names withheld) told The Nation that the men shot randomly, while causing a huge vehicular traffic as they operated.

The source said, “The unknown gunmen didn’t forgive us. About  30 mins ago,  they came to Oko/Amaokpala, stopping  vehicular movement coming from Ufuma and Umunze  to Oko. They shot sporadically.

“They gunned down an old man who they interrogated  first  and asked him questions relating to the (IPOB) struggle.

“They stopped  a Lexus 330 jeep and kidnapped the driver.  A Toyota Camry  (spider) was bashed. These young  boys  successfully carried out their operation for about 26 mins without being repelled by security agents.

“They drove away with two persons, leaving one dead at the scene,” the source said

Contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu told The Nation that the report had not come to his table.

He assured to investigate the matter, requesting  that the reporter should give him time.

But one of the senior Police Officers in the State, who did not want to be quoted, confirmed the incident

He said the command was in the hunt for the assailants, adding that some troops had already been deployed to the area .

A military officer, a Major, who refused to disclose his name to The Nation, described the killing of their men as false.
